慢性鼻及鼻竇炎中西醫結合治療之療效評估

慢性鼻及鼻竇炎是常見且嚴重影響生活品質的疾病，雖然此病耗費龐大社會成本，然而相關的病因學研究尚未明確。一般認為它屬於多病因的疾病，可能的病因包含解剖變異、感染、過敏等，而其治療亦尚未有標準化模式，抗生素、抗發炎藥物及內視鏡鼻竇手術一直是西醫治療的主流。近年來新的病機理論獲得重視，對於慢性鼻及鼻竇炎的病因從以往感染阻塞的觀點轉為主要為慢性持續性炎性反應，也使我們認為目前的治療方式應有修正或進步的空間。中醫藥一般被認為對免疫反應具有調節之功用，易於控制慢性發炎之反應，具有可與西醫結合治療此一疾病之潛力。因此，本研究擬以一年期間，對約150位慢性鼻及鼻竇炎患者進行中西醫結合治療療效之評估，研究中選擇臨床常用中藥方，配合西醫治療進行隨機、雙盲、安慰劑對照之臨床試驗模式，以作為發展慢性鼻及鼻竇炎最佳之臨床治療模式之參考。

Treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with functional endoscopic sinus surgery and Chinese herbal medicine

Chronic rhinosinusitis causes significantly impact on quality of life. It also results in significant annual health care expenditures. The pathophysiology of chronic rhinosinusitis has remained elusive. It is believed chronic rhinosinusitis is a multi-factorial disease. The possible etiology included anatomic variation, infection and allergic reaction. There is increasing evidence that in addition to infection and obstruction, immunologic inflammatory responses play major roles in the pathophysiology of CRS. The Chinese herbal medicine is believed to have immuno-modulation and is effective in treatment of allergic diseases. This randomized, double blind controlled study is trying to treat chronic rhinosinusitis with combination the Chinese herbal medicine with the current modalities of modern medicine.
