台灣常用藥用植物圖鑑英文版專書編修

行政院衛生署中醫藥委員會於2000年委託謝文全教授，彙整過去甘偉松教授及謝教授團隊調查全省常見藥用植物1200種，分上、中、下三冊，出版「台灣常用藥用植物圖鑑」（Ⅰ-Ⅲ冊）。每種藥用植物簡列其名稱、學名、科名、別名、形態、產地、分佈、成分、藥理及效用等諸項，並附上植物彩色圖，對開發、推廣台灣藥用植物資源有很大之助益。
為促進國際交流並使國際人士更加認識台灣藥用植物資源，行政院衛生署中醫藥委員會九十八年度委託計畫，已完成「台灣常用藥用植物圖鑑」第一冊之英文版編修並出版。
為完成「台灣常用藥用植物圖鑑」第二冊及第三冊之英文版出版，九十九年度行政院衛生署中醫藥委員會特將「台灣常用藥用植物圖鑑」之英文翻譯工作列為研究重點，本計畫分兩年進行，由植物學分類專家及中藥學者組成團隊，共同分擔植物形態及成分、藥理、效用之英譯工作，除翻譯外，對原中文版不妥之圖片及內容在英文版中亦加以修訂，以兩年為期，第一年先完成第二冊之500本出版，第二年完成第三冊之英譯版出版，並印製1,500冊，期使國際人士能更加瞭解台灣之藥用植物資源。

Editing of English Edition of Illustration of Common Medicinal Plants in Taiwan

In year 2000, the Committee on Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy (CCMP), Department of Health, Executive Yuan commissioned Professor Hsieh, Wen-Chiuan to continue the previous work of Professor Gan, Wei-Song. Professor Hsieh was consigned to organize the data on 1200 commonly used Taiwanese medicinal plant species collected by Professor Gan and his inspection team. These medicinal plants were later published into a book series of three volumes, named the “Illustration of Common Medicinal Plants in Taiwan.” For each medicinal plant, the full name, species name, family name, variant name, morphology, producing area, distribution, content, pharmacology, efficacy, etc. were all listed, a color picture was also accompanied. The release of this publication has been very helpful in developing and promoting the medicinal plant resources in Taiwan.
To advance international exchange and allow people from all over the world to get to know the medicinal plant resources in Taiwan, CCMP asked for the book series to be translated into English. The commissioned project 2009 of composing an English version for the first volume of “Illustration of Common Medicinal Plants in Taiwan” had just been published. 
For the completion of the English version of the second and third volumes of “Illustration of Common Medicinal Plants in Taiwan,” CCMP has especially listed the English translation of the “Illustration of Common Medicinal Plants in Taiwan” as the research focus for 2010. This project will be divided into two years, and carried out by a research team comprised of botanical taxonomy experts and Chinese medicine experts, who will share the work of translating the morphology, content, pharmacology and content of medicinal plants into English. Other than translation, any inappropriate content or pictures in the original Chinese version will also be revised in the English version. In the duration of this two year project, the second volume will be finished in the first year and 500 prints will be released. In the second year, the translation of the third volume will be completed, and 1500 copies will be published. It is expected that the publication of this translated book series will enable international communities to have a better understating of medicinal plant resources in Taiwan.
